| Guests can experience the magic of Andalusia at New Year during Montefrio’s annual celebrations, which are held in the town square. In a time-honoured tradition, at midnight, all revellers must eat one grape for every strike of the clock to ensure good luck for the forthcoming year. All must be swiftly washed down with wine. On January 5th, visitors to Bujio can watch the “Fiesta de los Reyes”, a procession, which celebrates the coming of the three kings. As the New Year’s kings of the orient descend on Montefrio and ride about the village, they scatter sweets to the crowds of excited children and adults. It is a delightful, innocent festival for the entire family, uniting all ages in a happy free for all. |
