The Festive Season

hristmas at Cortijo Bujio is beautiful. We invite guests to take the stress out of the festive season and enjoy it in style at Cortijo Bujio, an ideal venue for one or two families to share Christmas, New Year or The Three Kings holidays. While staff take care of the duties usually dealt with by weary hosts, the only thing our guests have to do is sit back and relax in front of an open log fire, while beverages and the Christmas dinner of their choice is served. In the leisurely fullness of time, they can unwrap the presents beneath the tree. As a final indulgence, an optional present-wrapping service is available.

Guests can experience the magic of Andalusia at New Year during Montefrio’s annual celebrations, which are held in the town square. In a time-honoured tradition, at midnight, all revellers must eat one grape for every strike of the clock to ensure good luck for the forthcoming year. All must be swiftly washed down with wine.

On January 5th, visitors to Bujio can watch the “Fiesta de los Reyes”, a procession, which celebrates the coming of the three kings.  As the New Year’s kings of the orient descend on Montefrio and ride about the village, they scatter sweets to the crowds of excited children and adults. It is a delightful, innocent festival for the entire family, uniting all ages in a happy free for all.
