Granada
ranada is to be found some 30 minutes away. A typically vibrant Spanish city, it has all the trimmings of modern life and is home to the greatest Muslim legacy in Europe; indeed, during the years of the Moorish occupation, it was considered to be the jewel of the peninsula. It has one of the most inspiring attractions on the continent, the 11th century Alhambra palace, and has fostered a local Gitano saying: "Please give something to the poor blind beggar, for there can be nothing more cruel than to be blind in Granada”. Those with an intimate knowledge of the Alhambra might well say that it is unrivalled in its appeal, and visitors to the region should make a point of experiencing this spectacular relic of a bygone age.
